Is a big anniversary coming up for you and your spouse? Have you recently gone on trip with friends and is one of them having a birthday soon? Want a creative (and very affordable) gift to give to them on that special day? Consider framing the ticket stubs or other memorabilia from your trip or from the past year/s.
When my boyfriend and I first started dating, we went out a lot. We attended concerts, watched 3-D films, visited museums, went on the ferry to get to the campgrounds on Vancouver Island, and lots more. This person and these times were very special to me and so I saved each and every ticket stub and small-ish and flat-ish peice of scrap as a souvenir from our adventures.
The relationship developed and flourished and soon our first year anniversary was coming up. I decided to share the souvenirs of our favorite jaunts with my boyfriend so I arranged and pasted them on a large sheet of colored card stock then framed the collage. He loved it!
The poster-sized card stock cost me $1 CDN plus tax at the Dollar Store and the picture frame (dimensions around 1.5 x 2 feet) cost me around $15 CDN plus tax at Ikea. This awesome project cost me less than $20!
If you want to do the same, go through your receipts and papers and see if you can find some that are representative of fun times you had with your friend or loved one (this will help unclutter your paper files, too). Or, if you do not have a bunch of stubs or receipts saved up from the past, start saving them starting now. You’ll most likely find that you have a pile of stuff fairly quickly just doing the normal things you do. If you really want to bring it to the next level, treat your loved one to more exotic or unusual adventures, the stubs you get from from these will mean so much more.
